How much is too much, screen time?
Our E Safety lesson was all about how much screen time we should have each day. The children had a great debate and here are some of their thoughts:
1. Watching screens before lights out effects how well I sleep.
2. Do your rountine and chores before screens.
3. Have your meals and be ready for school before screens.
4. No screens in bedrooms after lights out.
5. If screens are in your bedroom you get distracted, and go to bed too late. You might be tempted to use it through the night.
6. Too much screen time can effect your education.
7. Your sleep can be ruined and you can wake up grumpy if you have too much screen time.
8. Parents need to make sure screens are out of your sight at night.
9. A child should have TV but there are rules to keep you safe. The remote should be taken from off them so they can't use it during the night.
10. Ipads shouldn't be given to kids during the week,
but used at weekends.
11. We understand ipads shouldn't be used lots during the week as it makes us grumpy and can hurt your
eyes.
12. Screens are distracting.
13. Children should be the ones to decide when and how long they watch screens as they should know
what is the right amount for them.
14. Parents should put timers on devices so that the kids have to do a certain amount of educational games on the device. After that free game time is good.
15. No screens for one hour before bed.
16. If you are on screens all day parents are frustrated and lonely, family time should come first.
We had such an interested discussion here. Thank you P5.
