KS1 Walk to Hazelbank
During NYNY KS1 set off on a walk to think about increasing our physical activity and also to consider safe places to cross the road around our school. We were able to cross safely at the traffic lights when the green man appeared, after we had pressed the button. We decided it would never be safe to run across the road. We talked about walking on the path and how it would be dangerous to walk too close to the curb. To get to Hazelbank we had to get passed the motorway, so we used the underpass to get there safely.
Lots of boys and girls got Fitbits or other types of watches that monitor movement, and the children used these to count their steps. We stopped for break and as it was a lovely day, we had a beautiful view across the water. We went onto the beach and had fun collecting shells and pebbles, drawing pictures and were shocked to discover large pieces of rubbish on the shore. We found a large plastic door from a playhouse! It was full of sand and water which made it too heavy for us to move. We plan to join a clean up day at Loughshore!
