May Goal of the Month - 5: Gender Equality
In our country, boys and girls have equal access to education and to jobs, but this is not the case in other countries across the world.
"Providing women and girls with equal access to education, health care, decent work, and representation in political and economic decision-making processes will fuel sustainable economies and benefit societies and humanity at large. Implementing new legal frameworks regarding female equality in the workplace and the eradication of harmful practices targeted at women is crucial to ending the gender-based discrimination prevalent in many countries around the world." It is important that we do not take our education for granted and that we use our skills to work for the rights of others.
This month in assembly we will be learning about Malala and her fight for education for girls. We will also be taking part in the Amnesty International 'Write for Rights' campaign, writing to world leaders regarding the importance of gender equality.
