PSNI and Year 7 Kids Court
9th Apr 2025
Today in school the PSNI set up a Year 7 & PSNI ‘Kids Court’. Motorists caught speeding this morning outside the school were given the option of avoiding a fine and points by attending a special court where the judges were children. In front of a panel of our Year 7 pupils and a pupil jury, drivers had to explain why they had broken the 30mph speed limit as they passed the school. Motorists who did not want to participate had to pay the usual fine and accept penalty points on their licenses. Those who did attend our Kids Court got a lesson from the young judges on the dangers of speeding and faced questions from the children about their road safety knowledge. Police hope meeting the children face-to-face will change drivers’ behaviour. The pupils learnt a lot about road safety from the event and were fully engaged throughout.
