WPS Firework Safety Assembly
24th Oct 2018
A huge thank you to Andy Sprules from the Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service for taking the time this week to come into school and present assemblies to all classes to talk about firework safety.
The main messages were:
- Plan your firework display to make it safe and enjoyable. You need a license to have fireworks.
- Light the firework at arm's length with a taper and stand well back.
- Wear gloves when using sparklers and put them into a bucket of water when they are finished.
- Never return to a firework once it has been lit.
- Remember to be respectful of old people in the community and pets.
- Fireworks must only be used when a responsible adult is present.
Keep safe and enjoy the half term holiday!
