Y7 NI Science Festival and Engineering Talk
This week both Year 7 classes travelled to the University of Ulster in Belfast to take part in the NI Science Festival. All pupils took part in interactive sessions on a variety of topics, 3D printing, biomaterials, safe water solutions, healthcare sensors, and renewable energy. The purpose of the event was to inspire the next generation of engineers and this was certainly the case, with the children asking lots of excellent questions. Later in the week we also had a visit from Alex from CDE Group Manufacturing in Monkstown. Alex spoke to both classes about the skills, benefits and what is involved in a career in engineering. It was very positive and inspired a number of pupils to consider this in the future. Thank you Dr. Supriya Chakrabarti from the School of Engineering for inviting us and to THRIVE for organising our visit from Alex at CDE.
