Year 5 at the Opera House
Year 5 travelled to the Opera House last week for a workshop entitled Cinemagic. It was hosted by two CBBC presenters who told us about their work on TV and about BAFTA Kids and all the work they do. We learned how animation and sound are put together and were shown how sounds are added to films and animation. This is known as Foley. Foley (named after sound-effect artist Jack Foley) is the reproduction of everyday sound effects that are added to film, video, and other media in post-production to enhance audio quality. These reproduced sounds can be anything from the swishing of clothing and footsteps to squeaky doors and breaking glass. One of our classmates got to create the sound of birds by waving gloves into a microphone. Congratulations to another of our classmates who won a prize for her drawing and description of her favourite movie. We really enjoyed our visit to the Opera House.
