Year 7 BEE Safe Roadshow Report
Bee Safe Roadshow Report by Hannah Convery & Kasey Leigh McNally
The Bee Safe Roadshow was a great experience for the year 7 classes.
Firstly everyone went to a workshop called Beyond Skin. There we learnt that we can communicate with children the same age as us across the world. We got taught how to meditate and appreciate that we are all different.
Next we went to learn about Fire Safety. There is a special code to keeping safe:
Smoke alarm – Install one
Test – Test your smoke alarm once a month
Obvious – Check for obvious fire hazards
Plan – Make sure you have an escape plan in the case of a fire
At Women’s Aid we learnt all about our emotions and to help families with problems like – Not being able to get along well / arguing and fighting.
At the PSNI we learnt all about cycle safety controlling yourself on your bike. There is a special code for cycle safety:
P.S ALWAYS WEAR A HELMET! Brakes - Bell – Reflectors
When you’re at home there are some dangers around the house such as wires, toasters, irons, kettles, microwaves, bleach and different types of oil etc. Make sure all of the harmful items are out of the reach of children.
At HEADS UP we learnt all about alcohol and drugs. Alcohol and drugs can have a negative effect on your body.
At Translink we learnt about protection on the bus. We watched a video of teenage boys on the bus messing about. When you’re on a bus sit down properly if it supplies a seatbelt BELT IT! Then sit quietly until you arrive at your destination.
Thank you Newtownabbey and Antrim Borough Council for organising this BEE Safe events and thank you for the lovely gifts.
