Year 7 Bushmills Residential - December 2016
On Tuesday, 6th December, Year 7 travelled to the Bushmills Education Centre and participated in a series of exciting and challenging outdoor activities. Our first activity was canoeing on the River Bann, where we were joined by a curious seal. We returned to the centre buzzing and hungry, ready for the activities to follow that evening.
The next day we went to the Roe Valley Country Park where pupils participated in rock climbing and abseiling down the cliff edge. By lunch time everyone had worked up an appetite and we enjoyed eating our packed lunches in the December sunshine. Our next activity was shelter building, fire making and toasting marshmallows.
Our final day's activities included high ropes, archery and a trip to the Giants Causeway. We walked along the clifftop and down the Shepherd's Steps. We listened to the story of Finn McCool and saw the huge stone boot that was lost by him as he fled from the Scottish giant, Benandonner. We also sat on the wishing chair and saw Finn McCool's camel. We finished our trip by exploring the visitor centre.
