Year 7 Letters AND Replies!
As part of Year 7's writing project this term we focused on writing formal letters. We looked at the structure and layout and the importance of formal language and vocabulary. This was a perfect opportunity to write for a specific purpose and for a targeted audience. We put our skills to the test and wrote letters to a range of secondary schools and organisations to thank them for inviting us to their school or for visiting us. We wrote to Glengormley High, Belfast High, Carrick Academy, Tescos, The Valley Leisure Centre and Barnardos, Time for Me to name but a few. The children then wrote letters of their choice and there was a wide range of sports teams, actors and famous authors. Some children wrote to Arsenal, Arianna Grande, Jeff Kinney and Emma Watson to name a few. We have been eagerly watching the post as some of us have been fortunate enough to get replies and some small gifts. So far Rangers Football Club, Ulster Rugby, JK Rowling, David Walliams , Jurgen Klopp and Carrick Academy have sent us replies. We even got a phone call from Ken Reid to acknowledge Naomi's letter and how pleased he was to receive it. We'll keep watching the post and keep you updated!
