As part of our history topic ‘The Victorians’ Year 7 visited Hillsborough Castle and Gardens. We explored the beautiful gardens and trails and took part in an interactive workshop. We travelled back to 1884 and learnt that Hillsborough was a home and requires many servants to ensure it runs smoothly and that being a servant in a 'big house' was a desirable job. We also learnt about the different roles of servants in Victorian times and that people in the past lived differently according to their background. Some of our children got into the spirit of this experience and dressed in Victorian Period costumes.
