Year7 - Environmental Studies at Sentry Hill

As part of our world around us topic ‘Explore the Rainforest’ Year 7 visited Sentry Hill Visitor Centre. The children participated in a range of activities that developed their knowledge and understanding of the local environment and the importance of trees to life. The activities included:
- tree identification
- calculating the ages of trees by measuring the girth and using a formula
- a mini beast hunt
- planting bulbs
- creating mini garden pictures, tree and leaf rubbings
- a visit to the allotment to examine the beds, poly tunnel and wild flower garden
- exploring the garden and natural surroundings
