Why is Environmental education important for children?

Environmental education promotes critical and creative thinking skills and inspires children to become more engaged with their communities. It helps children understand why the environment is important and provides them with the building blocks they need to live eco-friendly and sustainable lives. The future requires all our pupils, their families and our school to be more sensitive to the environment.

Our school achieved our 2nd Eco Green Flag Award in June 2023.

The  Eco Team has new members this year and have already introduced themselves to the school in key stage assemblies. They have also shared our plans for the year ahead and set a challenge to the school to come up with a new eco code incorporating our 3 new topics. The entries were amazing and the team had a fun, but tough job deciding on the winners. In the end they couldn’t decide and instead combined 3 entries to make a new code. This has been shared with the school at assembly and put into each class and shared areas.

The eco team will be keeping in touch with the school and our local community through leading a series of assemblies, talks in classes, information on notice boards and information on our Facebook page and website.
